Finishing Drywall is not something that can be done in a day.
The steps of the finishing process are the most time-consuming and contribute highly to the final look of your home. This step si where The Finished Edge partners concentrate their talents.
The first step in the finishing process is sruveying the hanging job to make sure that everything has been done correctly and to the partners' specifications. Once any corrections have been made, the corner bead is applied. After this, all the joints are taped and the nail heads are coated in with drywall compound making them smooth with the wall.
Usually 24 to 48 hours is required to allow the joint compound to dry before the fourth step takes place. Once the compound is dry, we will come back to apply the first skim coat. Again, this requires time to dry before the second skim coat can be applied. Depending on the finish you choose (either smooth or textured), the second to the final step is to apply a third skim coat, spray texture or hand-texture the surfaces. If you choose smooth walls or an orange peel texture, the final step is sanding, giving the walls and ceiling a finished look.
